Slight Risk for Severe Storms on Monday 10-1

A slow-moving storm system in the southeast will bring a good chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms to portions of south Georgia and the Big Bend of north Florida Monday afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has designated our area as having a "slight risk" of severe weather. Isolated strong thunderstorms are possible with a very small threat of damaging wind gusts or isolated tornadoes. The areas to our north (northeast Alabama and northwest Georgia) have the higher risk of severe weather. Stay tuned to WCTV for the latest weather information at 5:00pm, 5:30pm, 6:00pm and 11:00pm, or sooner if any watches or warnings are issued. Scattered showers and storms are forecast for communities in the Big Bend and South Georgia today.

The storms are expected late afternoon through evening.

The systems could produce high winds and frequent lightning. A severe storm also brings the risk of an isolated tornado.

The strongest chance of severe weather is in the western part of the area, according to WCTV Meteorologist Rob Nucatola.

There are no watches or warnings at this time. WCTV is tracking the storm systems and will bring you the latest on WCTV and wctv.com as the weather develops.
