THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WCTV) -- Police officers and sheriff’s deputies in Thomasville fired up the grill Thursday for the annual “Law Enforcement Goodwill Project.”

Each seven-dollar plate of barbecue sold is to raise money for local families. The funds will provide meals and toys during the holiday season, which officers will deliver in person.

Tim Watkins of the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office said, “We all have an investment into the community to make it a better place and that’s what we’re trying to show the community here. We are a part of the community and we want to make sure we’re all taken care of.”

This is the 17th year for the Goodwill Project, and they’re looking to raise around $7,000.
