LAKELAND, Ga. (WCTV) -- South Georgia Medical Center is updating it's services in South Georgia.

On Sunday, SGMC held a ribbon cutting for it's new $11 million facility in Lanier County.

They say it's a replacement for their Lakeland Villa nursing homes.

The building brings new private rooms, rehabilitation rooms, dining, and activity areas.

The Lakeland community made a big crowd at the event Sunday afternoon.

"All of that within just a few minutes and without having to travel 30 minutes to a larger area," says Jeoff Hardy, Lakeland Villa administrator. "It's good for the community and it's something they really appreciate."

SGMC also says it' one of the largest employers and economic generators in Lanier County.
