VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- A teenager has been arrested on multiple charges after police say he was caught breaking in to a vehicle in Valdosta.
According to the Valdosta Police Department, the incident happened just after 1:00 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of North Ashley Street. Officers responded to the area after a citizen called 911 to report a vehicle burglary in-progress.
The victim told police he was at work when he saw an unknown man inside of his vehicle attempting to steal his belongings. VPD says the victim was able to detain the suspect until officers arrived.
The suspect, 19-year-old Kevin Brown, was arrested on charges of criminal attempt to commit theft by entering a vehicle and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
Brown was also found to be in possession of marijuana, and had two outstanding warrants.
Brown was booked into the Lowndes County Jail. VPD says the case is open and more charges may be filed.
“As we routinely state, law enforcement cannot be everywhere so we need our citizens to be the eyes and ears for us. The citizen in this case is commended for helping us bring a felon to justice”, said VPD Lieutenant Adam Bembry.
