THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WCTV) -- Thursday kicks off a weekend full of festivities in Downtown Thomasville.
The 6th annual Due South Festival is full of art, music, and Red Hills Heritage.
It will also unveil the City's new amphitheater downtown.
Wednesday, workers were busy laying sod and making final touches to the fresh venue.
The Thomasville Center for the Arts says they're hoping it brings more people out to concerts and other events in the heart of downtown.
"We want to build a creative economy in Thomasville. We want to give people the means to be creative and I think this sets that up for it. When there's not an event going on here, it will be a full city park and usable to the public," says Ronnie Stripling, with the Center for the Arts.
Live entertainment, food trucks, and local art will be on display throughout downtown until Saturday.
