VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) – A job fair is scheduled next month in Valdosta, bringing with it the hopes of new opportunity for hundreds throughout the community.
The South Georgia Coalition for Employment is holidng its third annual Creative Paths to Employment job fair.
The year the coalition is partnering with local youth programs. Organizers hope to provide opportunities for kids, like summer jobs and school programs, to keep them busy and out of trouble in the summer months.
The job fair will also provide options for individuals with a criminal history. The Valdosta Police Department said one of the goals of this is to cut down on crime, and reduce recidivism rates.
"We've got to show people where [jobs] are at, help them get ready, and help them send a good impression, because at the end of the day if we find somebody a job, everybody wins." Said Chief Brian Childress with the Valdosta Police Department.
The job fair is on April 26 at the James H. Rainwater Conference Center. It's free for both those looking for work, and employers looking to hire.
