Valdosta motorcyclist killed in overnight crash

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- Troopers suspect a man was under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he lost control of his motorcycle early Friday morning.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash happened around 3:15 a.m. on Johnston Road in Lowndes County.

The crash report states that 24-year-old James Michael Thomas Carter was traveling east on Johnston Road when he left the roadway. GSP says he traveled over 200 feet before losing control of his motorcycle.

Carter was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers suspect drugs or alcohol to be a contributing factor in the crash.
