VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- A team out of Valdosta was deployed to Georgia's coast Tuesday afternoon to help with search and rescue missions.
The team of 33 members are headed to work in the flooded Camden County.
The team says the damage is much more severe along the Georgia coast than here in our local region.
"I don't think our people truly understand that that's our concern here," said Brian Boutwell of the Gasar Task Force 2. "There's people from this event that are concerned about where they're going to go if they can get out of their homes."
Many of the search and rescue workers have previously been deployed to other disaster areas, like New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.
For the next several days, they'll be helping as many people as possible who are still trapped in their homes.
