A groundbreaking ceremony on base this morning marked the construction of a new 37,000 square foot facility.

The current center only meets about half the demand for child care.

Officials say the new center will help the base meet its standard of being able to accommodate 85-percent of families.

"We'll be able to help other family members come in one building versus having several different locations," said Kristi Fisk, a military mom. "And having more children here for our children to play with."

The center should be complete by March 2011 and ready to open its doors to serve Moody's pre-schoolers shortly after that.
