Fighting Gang Activity
Local law enforcement is trying to keep the streets safe with an anti-gang message.

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Department teaches a 13 week Gang Resistance Education and Training or G.R.E.A.T program.
Sixth graders from Hahira Middle School, Lowndes Middle School and Parker Mathis Learning Center attend weekly classes taught by their schools' resource officers.
The sheriff's office hopes to expand into more schools next year.
The weekly classes teach students about conflict resolution and the dangers of gang activity.
Nationwide, more than 1,400 communities take part in the federally funded program.
