The Georgia Lottery Corp. oration said their profits for the first half of fiscal year 2010 is $8.49 million more than the year before.
A large chunk of that change funds education.
Since 1993 university system students in Lowndes County have received more than $44.5 million from Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program. Private college and university students have received more than $5.9 million from HOPE and technical college students have received more than $32 million from HOPE.
Local Pre-K programs have received more than 36-million dollars.
Businesses selling the tickets win too. They've brought in more than 27 million dollars in commissions.
