Nearly 50 people swam for a good cause Sunday morning in Lowndes County.

It is "The Clock is Ticking Seven Mile Swim" at Long Pond in Lake Park, Georgia. It benefits the James Eunice Charity Fund.

Eunice was a 17-year-old Valdosta native who drowned while duck hunting in January 2011. His father says these swimmers are helping raise money in his honor.

"James' story has touched a lot of lives," said John Eunice, James's father. "When we were in a time of need this community stepped forward and helped us in tremendous ways and they continue to help us."

The fund creates scholarships for high school students and supplies dive equipment for the sheriff's department.
