Local Students Found With Guns On School Property

Moultrie Police Investigators say it all started with a fight on one of the Colquitt County school buses involving one of the suspects brothers and another teenager.

Moultrie Police say after the fight school officials overheard one of the offenders saying he was going to shoot another boy.

That's when Colquitt County High School staff searched the 15 year old, finding a small handgun.

Officers say another 15 year old student was found shortly afterward with handgun on school property as well.

Investigators say one of the guns was fully loaded but non-operational while the other gun was not loaded.

Both boys were immediately detained and taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center in Thomasville.

The juveniles are being charged with possession of a firearm on school property, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a firearm of a person under the age of 18.

Both will appear before a judge on Monday to determine if they'll stay in the detention center or be released to their parents.
