Georgia Candidates Line Up to Run, Many with No Opposition

ATLANTA (AP) _ Change has been the buzzword this election season. But Georgians aren't likely to see much of it at the state Capitol.

Qualifying for elections wrapped up at noon Friday. And more than half of state lawmakers are running without any opposition. Even those legislators that face one opponent _ or several of them _ face good odds of winning re-election. Political experts say turnover is traditionally very low within state legislatures.

Speculation that a new crop of GOP challengers might emerge to topple state Republican leaders after a bitter legislative session didn't materialize.
