Hill wins Bassmaster Elite event

EVANS, Ga. (AP) _ Kenyon Hill of Norman, Oklahoma, won his third
career BASS title today, finishing with a four-day total of 68
pounds on Clarks Hill Lake to hold off 2006 winner Davy Hite in the
Pride of Georgia.
Hill weighed his heaviest limit today, 18 pounds, 2 ounces, to
earn the $100,000 top prize. His limit today was anchored by a
7-pound, 1-ounce brute that fell for a swimbait, good enough for
Purolator Big Bass Honors and the $1,000 premium.
In addition to the prize money, Hill jumped to sixth place in
the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year standings.
Hill dedicated the victory to his dying father, Loren.
``He supported me emotionally and financially when I decided I
wanted to be a professional angler,'' Hill said of his father,
fighting esophageal cancer. ``I want to get the trophy to him as
soon as possible so he can have it sit on his mantle. He doesn't
have much time left but I know this will make him feel good.''
