Update as of 5:00 PM
The Tornado Watch has been cancelled. The threat of severe weather is ending in our viewing area. Clearing skies and much drier air is beginning to arrive from the west.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch until 8 pm eastern time for parts of North Florida and South Georgia.
The Tornado Watch includes the following counties in Florida: Jefferson, Madison, Hamilton, and Suwannee; and in Georgia: Atkinson, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks, Clinch, Coffee, Colquitt, Cook, Decactur, Echols, Grady, Lanier, Lowndes, Mitchell, Thomas, Tift, and Worth.
A line of showers and thunderstorms was developing along an advancing cold front across South Georgia and North Florida. The storms are developing in an environment that is favorable for severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes this afternoon.
Tallahassee is not officially a part of this watch, but we cannot yet rule out severe weather for the Tallahassee area.
