ATLANTA (AP) _ Rapper Ludacris was restricted from returning to his high school four years ago, but now school officials are rolling out the welcome mat for him.
The performer returned to Banneker High School in south Atlanta
Monday to take part in a crusade against violence.
He will speak at an event where school officials bury a box of weapons, drugs and more than 1,000 anonymous letters from students
about the impact of violence. The school will also unveil a mural painted in his honor.
Banneker's principal says his predecessor restricted Ludacris from campus because of the attention he drew. But the new principal
decided to invite the rapper back as a spokesman against violence.
