The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch until 4 pm eastern time/3 pm central time for the Florida Panhandle west of the Apalachicola River, southern Alabama, and southeastern Mississippi.
A line of thunderstorms moving into Mississippi from Louisiana has a history of producing damaging winds and even possible tornadoes. The environment is favorable for severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes today across the watch area.
The storms will move through southeastern Mississippi through 11 am central time, then across southwestern Alabama up to just after noon central time. After noon the storms will move into the western Florida Panhandle before progressing eastward toward Panama City and Marianna during the early afternoon hours.
Late this afternoon and into the evening hours, these storms are expected to move into North Florida and South Georgia late Thursday afternoon and into the evening.
