Tallahassee's Franklin Boulevard was flooded late Friday morning as a spring storm brought a deluge. TPD says one car was swamped and the water was deep enough that a dumpster floated down and blocked one lane of the road. As of about 12:30 Friday afternoon at least one lane of Franklin was open again to traffic. Power was also knocked out for about 12-hundred Tallahassee residents and several traffic lights were out for a time.
Strong thunderstorms will continue to dump heavy rainfall across the area, including Tallahassee.
Weather radar estimates that over two and a half inches of rain has fallen across parts of North Florida, and up to an inch of rain has fallen across southwest Georgia. The heavy rain will likely continue - off and on - throughout the afternoon for most of the area.
The Capital Area Flood Network indicates that as much as 3 inches of rain has fallen across southwest Leon County.
Never attempt to drive through water-covered roadways.
Most areas will see a break in the rain this afternoon before another round of showers moves into the area from the west.
