Senior citizens in Thomasville took part in the 15th Annual Thomasville Fishing Rodeo on Wednesday.
The event held at Cassidy Pond allowed many seniors who normally aren't able to get out and enjoy the sunshine on their own, to kick back, relax and cast a line.
"It's just an honor for them to be able to come out and those that are handicapped can use wheelchairs and sit around the dock and just cast out and have a helper there to help them put the bates on and take the fish off," said Fishing Rodeo participant, Oscar Turner.
Many of the seniors were bused in from area nursing homes to compete to see who could catch the biggest fish.
They enjoyed a number of snacks and a picnic, all while taking in the warm summer rays.
The event was sponsored by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources along with the City of Thomasville, Walmart, the Thomasville YMCA, and the Kiwanis Club.
