CANTON, Ga. (AP) _ The cleanup has begun in Cherokee County from a storm that did millions of dollars worth of damage.
The high winds Tuesday night damaged hundreds of homes, and
Governor Perdue has declared a state of emergency in the county. The governor toured the area Tuesday afternoon. The emergency declaration makes state resources available to help with cleanup and recovery.
State insurance commissioner John Oxendine says the storm did at
least $5 million worth of damage. No serious injuries were reported.
