ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -- A former consultant to child actors has been sentenced to 235 months in prison on exploitation charges.
Thomas Conrad Lowery, 48, was sentenced Thursday after a jury found him guilty of transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and child pornography charges.
Prosecutors say Lowery contacted a child actor using the Internet in 2001 and agreed to pay airfare and hotel costs to meet with the child in Los Angeles. They say he ultimately stayed in the same hotel room and engaged in criminal sexual activity with the child in June 2001.
The jury also heard evidence that he received images of child pornography on his work computer at the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.
