John Faircloth has conducted church services and Bible studies for inmates since 1948.
Faircloth has been honored by the Thomas County Board of Commissioners as well as the Georgia House of Representatives for his services.
He believes that his religious services have been very meaningful to the inmates.
"You get a person to the throne of grace you don't have to worry about the sticky fingers or the wife beating problem or the fast triggered fingers you don't have to worry about that because the good lord takes care of that,"said John Faircloth.
The warden noted that Faircloth is one of the longest working chaplains in the state.
Faircloth says he owes it to his wife Doris for her years of support.
