SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) _ A restaurant in Savannah owned by well-known Southern chef Paula Deen was the scene of a fire late Sunday night.
Firefighters responded to The Lady & Sons eatery at about 11 p.m. According to Savannah Fire Captain Matt Stanley, the blaze appeared to have started in a 2nd floor stairwell that was used for storage. He said the fire generated heavy smoke and minor damage was reported to a first-floor dining room or kitchen areas.
Deen's son, Jamie, said if the Chatham County health department approves, the restaurant would reopen today.
