Around 5 p.m. Saturday night, Bainbridge Public Safety officials say a train was traveling across Whigham Dairy Road when the conductor spotted what he thought was a dog on the side of the tracks.
When the conductor realized it was really a person, he sounded the whistle, and threw on the emergency brakes.
But with the front of the train barely past, the man stumbled uphill into the moving train.
Authorities say 21 year old Javier Garcia was rushed to the hospital with a head injury and broken collar bone.
His blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit.
Officials say if Garcia had fallen just one second earlier, he would have been decapitated.
