The postal service operates the largest civilian fleet of vehicles in the country.

Every time the price of gas goes up just one penny, it costs the postal service 8 million dollars.

The hike in the cost of gas has made it easier for the post office to raise rates and another price raise is expected next May.

" Its gonna affect a lot of people by going to the post office because they ain't gonna be able to afford it, I mean i guess it seems like we are going into a depression,"said Thomasville resident Nathaniel Wells.

Nationwide the postal service spent 500 million more on transportation costs last year than they did they year before.
