The Valdosta Police Department says there are four reports of graffiti within close proximity of each other.

The vandalism was found at Cutting Edge Salon on Janet Street, Powerhouse Outdoor Equipment on Bemiss Road, Harvey's Supermarket on Bemiss Road, and the South Georgia Medical Center.

The graffiti had the word 'crips' and various words and phrases that are inappropriate to some viewers.

Police are investigating whether this and the other graffiti is gang-related.

The markings I saw were literally yards away from a local neighborhood and residents were fearful.

They said they hear groups of people walking around their neighborhood late at night.

Some residents say the police are doing all they can, one man says they're not doing enough.

Captain Robinson at the Valdosta Police Department says they prosecute anyone who places graffiti on someone's property. They're going to step up patrols and investigate aggressively.

We'll have more on Eyewitness News.
