Obama Endorses Ga. Lawmaker

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) _ Barack Obama is endorsing congressman John
Barrow in his Democratic primary race against a state lawmaker.

The endorsement by the Democratic presidential candidate could prove important for Barrow of Savannah. He's a white incumbent whose primary challenger is a black legislator, state Sen. Regina Thomas.

Experts believe black voters will make up a solid majority in the July 15 Democratic primary in Georgia's 12th Congressional District. Barrow's district includes large portions of Savannah and Augusta.

Barrow's campaign is running radio ads featuring Obama, who praises Barrow for standing up to congressional Republicans and President Bush.
