Georgia Names New Juvenile Justice Commissioner

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice's board unanimously appointed Garland R. Hunt on Wednesday, May 19th. Hunt, who is an attorney and minister, was nominated by Governor Sonny Perdue on May 11th.

Hunt is vice president of Wellington Boone Ministries and co-pastor of The Father's House church in Norcross. He has been staff attorney for the fourth circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals and general counsel for The Fellowship of International Churches.

Hunt also has been on the state Board of Pardons and Paroles since 2004, serving as chairman for two years. He has undergraduate
and law degrees from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Hunt replaces Albert Murray, who was commissioner for six years.
