Atlanta Braves Visit Valdosta for Autograph Signing

Valdosta, GA - Baseball fans in Valdosta got to see some of the greats today at Academy Sports. Past and present members of the Atlanta Braves were in town signing autographs. Phil Niekro who was a Brave for twenty years was there as well as newcomer David Hale. It was part of a 12 day caravan that stopped in five different states across the south east.

Former Atlanta Brave Phil Niekro said "they got a great college here, Valdosta State got some great baseball teams down here. I know that. Lots of times on my way down to Florida, driving come through here. Don't get a chance to come down here as much as I'd like to. But I still know and realize that there are some great great super fans down here."

Current Atlanta Brave David Hale said "fans are incredible down here. We just stopped at a barbecue place right before we came over here and, yeah, people were loving it. They were just asking for autographs and everything."

Players will be reporting to Orlando for spring training in less then two weeks.

The Atlanta Braves Country Caravan, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors, will continue its roll through the Southeast with free and public autograph signings at the Academy Sports + Outdoors in Valdosta and Warner Robins, GA. This event will be held February 2, 2013.

Braves players, alumni, coaches and broadcasters will be available for media interviews prior to the autograph signings.

Scheduled to appear are Ryan Klesko, Phil Niekro, David Hale, Eddie Perez and Greg Walker.

Joe Simpson will be at the Valdosta Academy Sports + Outdoors only.
