It's healing through feeling. Brian Hickox has been legally blind his entire life. But that hasn't stopped him from pursuing his dream. He now goes by doctor Hickox.
Dr. Hickox says "I let my fingers be my eyes." Hickox opened his practice, called the Hickox Chiropractic and Wellness Center on Monday. It took seven years of school to get to this point.
Dr. Hickox was legally blind since birth. But he still had his peripheral vision, until one night at school. He explained what happened saying "as I was walking home one day back to my apartment I got robbed with a pistol. A guy came up and stuck a gun in my back and told me to give him all my money and I did. And he hit me in the head, in the back of the head once. And twice in the side of my head and that led to the loss of my vision."
But even though he lost the use of his eyes, he never lost site of his goal. His mother said "I'm thrilled to death and proud as I can be."
Both his parents always supported Dr. Hickox. He said "they had a chance to give up on me but they never did. And in turn that made me even more so not want to give up on myself."
Eyewitness News reporter Eames Yates had a session with Dr. Hickox. Eames can personally attest that he felt more aligned after the procedure.
