News Release: City of Port St. Joe
July 11, 2014

On Tuesday, July 15, 2014, the City of Port St. Joe will be moving the Cape San Blas Lighthouse, two Keepers' Quarters and the Oil house from its current location on Cape to George Core Park in Port St. Joe. The moving process will begin at 8:00 a.m. EST and may take up to seven hours.

During the movie residents, visitors and businesses will experience localized power outages and heavy traffic. The moving caravan may be as long as 900 feet and both lanes of traffic will be needed for use. Local residents will be able to access the roads but on a very limited schedule. Emergency vehicles will be stationed on the Cape throughout the move and will have the ability to respond. Detour routes will redirect traffic from the Cape to C30-A eastbound to Highway 98 which may inconvenience residents and guests. If you are a lodging partner please inform your guests about the Lighthouse move and the expected localized power outages and delays.

If you have any questions, please contact Clay Smallwood, Project Manager, at 850-227-7200 or Jim Anderson, City Manager at 850-229-8261.
