The Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Office would like to caution motorists on the numerous holiday events throughout the area.

The Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Office would like to caution motorists on the numerous holiday events throughout the area. These events have been scheduled in all areas of our troop's responsibility and are expected to draw large amounts of pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists.

While these events are exciting, we would like to remind all roadway users to follow the applicable traffic laws to ensure a safe, patriotic holiday for all to enjoy.

While traveling through these areas, please be observant and adjust for an increase in pedestrian and slow moving traffic. In addition, the Florida Highway Patrol has assigned additional personnel to monitor the safe flow of traffic through these areas during this holiday events.

Travelers should also be reminded that stopping on the interstate is for emergency purposes only, as per Florida Statutes. Stopping on the interstate system to view firework displays or other holiday events is illegal and very unsafe.

While the Florida Highway Patrol acknowledges this reverent and patriotic holiday, our commitment to protect the safety of our public remains the highest priority.
