Bainbridge, GA-December 26, 2012

On a day typically filled with joy and celebration, family and friends of Ervin Flanders Jr gathered inside a small Bainbridge Church to pray and heal.

They lit candles, sang songs and shared their favorite memories of Flanders on what would've been his 28th birthday.

"It's a pain. I just can't explain it. Like part of me was just ripped out of me," says Viola Flanders, his mother.

"I'm going to miss my baby because he meant a lot to his daddy and to his mother," says Ervin Flanders Sr., his father.

The family says Flanders had been out of jail on a burglary charge for about three months when he was murdered.

The Decatur County Sheriff's Office says Dorian Goss is accused of fatally stabbing Flanders during a fight over a girl outside of the Bainbridge Shriners Club.

There's been a warrant for Goss' arrest since October. But so far, he hasn't been caught.

"We just want justice and closure. My son was murdered. He's dead. We just want it so bad. If I could just get that for a birthday that would be the best thing that ever happened to me," says his mother.

Bainbridge, GA- Friends of 27 year-old Ervin Flanders Jr. are still shocked by what happened outside the Bainbrdige Shrine Club early Sunday morning.

"Ervin, he was a very funny person, loved to have fun; a real good person," said Cedrick Brown, a friend of Flanders.

According to dozens of witnesses inside the party, a fight broke out between Flanders and 22 year-old Dorian Goss.

Lead Investigator Redell Walton with the Decatur County Sheriff's Office said that's when security stepped in.

"They moved the entire crowd of people outside and while our victim was standing talking to some friends, our suspect approached him, hit him from behind and another altercation occurred and during that altercation, he was stabbed to death."

Investigators say Goss got into a white car and took off. The driver of that vehicle is described as a black man with dreadlocks. Goss is still on the loose.

Investigators say the stabbing was not random.

"These two guys knew each other," said Investigator Walton. "I believe they went to school together and in this case, I believe it stemmed from a young lady that one had dated before and there was some friction there."

"It's very sad," Brown added. "We really need to stop the violence, you know, among each other. It's sad on both ends, knowing both of them."

Goss is described as 5'9" weighing 150 pounds. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Decatur County Sheriff's Office.
