GDOT Schedules Informal Open House To Discuss Proposed US 319 Detour Route

TIFTON, Ga. – Georgia Department of Transportation representatives will hold an informal public information open house April 29 to discuss a temporary detour route needed while improvements are made to the intersection of U.S. 319/state Route 35 at Indian Lake Drive in Colquitt County.

The proposed project will add left and right turn lanes at Indian Lake Drive and a right turn lane at the existing driveway for Haven Hill Estates. Construction will require closing U.S. 319/SR 35 to through traffic for a maximum of five days.

The open house will be held from 4-6 p.m. at the Georgia Baptist Conference Center, 4243 U.S. 319, Norman Park. Georgia DOT representatives will be available to discuss the detour route and answer questions. There will not be a formal presentation.

Those attending may give a verbal statement about the proposed detour and/or complete a comment card. Anyone unable to attend the open house may submit a written comment to:

Comments will be accepted until May 10. Comments can also be made via the web at On the home page, choose “Information Center” and then “Public Outreach.” Select the project county and choose “Go.”

All comments will be made part of the project record and will be available for public review when compilation is completed at the above address or at the Georgia DOT office located at 120 Veterans Parkway North in Moultrie. The displays and plans will be available for review at the Moultrie office for 10 days after the open house.
