GEMA Shows Off New Revamped Website

Emergency officials in Georgia have revised their website and launched a new webcast for hurricane season.

Officials with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) say the upgrade is meant to make the most up-to-date information more accessible before, during and after a disaster.

The revamped website features a modern design and is divided into user-specific sections. It even features the new 'GEMA News Minute' webcast which is released every Tuesday.

"Lowndes County Emergency Management is very excited about GEMA's new website. There's some additional functionality there that's going to make it very easy for our citizens to get real time updates during a disaster. And anything that GEMA provides as an additional resource for us that takes the load off our response during a local event is certainly welcome," said Paige Dukes, Public Information Officer for Lowndes County.

Visitors also will have access to real-time updates, such as current weather conditions, open shelters and terrorism alerts.
