Victim Identified in Thomasville Afternoon Homicide, Husband Arrested

Thomasville, GA---October 2, 1012-2:40p.m.

A judge has denied bond for William Knight. He will remain behind bars at the Thomas County Jail. William Knight is charged with murder for the stabbing death of Shirley Knight.

Thomasville, GA--October 5, 2012- 1:00 p.m.

The woman found stabbed to death inside a Thomasville business on Thursday afternoon has been identified as 52 year-old Shirley Knight.

According to Thomasville Police, Shirley Knight and the man arrested in connection to her murder, William Knight, were married, but separated.

Lt. Eric Hampton with Thomasville Police said that there were previous reports of domestic violence between the couple, however those incidents were not reported in Thomas County.

William Knight has been transported back to the Thomas County Jail and will have an arraignment hearing today at 2:00 p.m.

He has been formally charged with murder.
Thomasville, GA--October 4, 2012-- 5:30 p.m.

An arrest has been made in the homicide investigation of a woman found stabbed to death inside a local business.

Thomasville police arrived to Knight Services Tax and Bookkeeping along the 300 block of East jackson street around 1 p.m. Thursday.

They found an unidentified, black female with multiple stab wounds inside the business.

Less than two hours later, Crisp County Sheriff's Deputies tracked down their suspect in Cordelle,Georgia.

They arrested William Henry Knight along I-75.

Knight is currently in custody and is waiting to be transported back to Thomas County Jail.

At this time, there's no word on how or if the suspect was related to the victim.

Thomasville, GA - A homicide investigation is now underway after a woman was found stabbed to death inside a Thomasville business.

The victim has been identified as a black female, but her name has not yet been released.

She is believed to have been an employee at Knight Services Tax and Bookkeeping along the 300 block of East Jackson Street. That's where police found her body.

Thomasville police received a call from a family member of the victim and arrived on the scene around 1 p.m.

They do have a suspect of interest and are currently looking for him.

The Thomasville Police Department, Thomas County Sheriff's Office and Georgia Bureau of Investigation are working on the case.
