THOMASVILLE, Ga. -- Jacob Bruhn, a rising senior at the Scholars Academy is heading a project to benefit the community and promote literacy among area children. The goal of his project is to collect children’s books to donate to kids in need.

“I think every child deserves the opportunity to read and I want to make books even more accessible and approachable in here in Thomasville,” says Bruhn.

Jacob is already very active in his community involving himself in the Rotary charter at his school and the Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce’s Youth Leadership program. Recently, Jacob also joined Books for Friends; a nonprofit organization that specializes in gathering books for children in an effort to help him achieve his project objectives.

Jacob’s plan is to position drop off boxes at select locations around Thomasville for people to easily donate any new or used children’s books.

These locations will include the Chamber of Commerce, The Thomas County Public Library and The Bookshelf. At the end of the drive the books will be given to the children’s library at Good Shepherd Church in Thomasville.
