Lowndes SWAT Called to Home of Suicidal Man

Lowndes County, Georgia- August 17, 2012

On Thursday evening, at around 7:30 pm, Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a Morven Road residence, near Hahira, regarding a person who was inside his home and threatening to commit suicide. Sheriff Chris Prine, deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division and members of the department’s Special Response Team responded to the scene and were soon able to communicate with the resident.

The person, an adult male, relayed his intentions to deputies who through conversation were able to calm the individual. During their conversations, the resident indicated that he wanted to speak with Hahira Chief of Police, Terry Davis. Chief Davis was contacted and also traveled to the home. A short time later the resident exited the home and was transported to the hospital for evaluation by emergency medical personnel.

Sheriff Prine stated that he was extremely proud that the resident was able to be helped without anyone being harmed. Sheriff Prine was also thankful for the assistance of Chief Davis and his efforts to resolve this event.
