Valdosta, Georgia- July 16, 2012

Valdosta State University has a new president and he's sure been busy his first two weeks.

Monday we had a chance to catch up with Dr. Bill McKinney. He comes to VSU from Indiana-Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He spent four years there as Vice Chancellor for academic affairs. He has a doctorate in the philosophy of science. Doctor McKinney is replacing interim-president Louis Levy.

"What I hope to do with VSU is become the model of a 21st Century public university. And the way you do that is pulling in the ideas and the inspiration from every member of that community whether it's on campus or off," said Bill McKinney, VSU President.

Dr. McKinney's first day was Monday July 2nd.
