Valdosta, GA - Get ready for some big changes in your mail service. The U.S. Postal Service is losing billions every year, so to cut costs, they're ending many Saturday deliveries.

Lynn Ramirez runs a trucking company and she's not happy about changes coming to the Post Office. She works seven days a week and she says she needs a mail service that can keep up.

"We receive our payments through the mail and we send out our invoices through the mail. That's why i come to the Post Office almost every two days to send our invoices out," said Ramirez.

The Postal Service intends to halt Saturday delivery of most mailers, letters and catalogs this summer. Starting in August, they'll only be delivered five days a week instead of six.

But that would only affect first-class mail. Saturday deliveries will continue for packages, mail-order medicines and priority and express mail.

The Postal Service reported losing a record $16 billion last budget year. So they hope by cutting Saturday deliveries they can save $2 billion a year. That's still not enough to fix the problem but it's a start.

The Postal Service says research shows nearly 7 in 10 Americans support the switch to five-day delivery as a way to reduce costs. But try telling that to small business owners like Ramirez.

"I don't think it's right after they've been delivering on Saturdays for over 100 years or so," Ramirez said.

Cutting out Saturday deliveries is ending a 150 year tradition.
