Tifton, Ga. -- Volunteers in the Tiftarea community are rallying together on August 9 for the 2014 Lupus Football Bowl game to urge action and raise awareness of Lupus.
Lupus can be a mysterious and devastating disease that ravages different parts of the body. Lupus has no known cause and no known cure.
Organizers say that the purpose of the game is to bring awareness to the South Georgia community. They also state that the game is a way to highlight Lupus and honor the many Lupus survivors in south Georgia as well as those who have passed on.
During halftime, Lupus survivors will be honored. Survivors will also get the chance to participant in the Survivor Recognition Walk on the field and have their names and dates of their battles announced.
Balloons will be released in remembrance of those who have passed on.
The game will be held at Brodie Field in Tifton on August 9 at 7:30 p.m. General Admission is $8. Those wearing a 2014 Lupus Awareness T-Shirt will received admission for only $5. Children 10 and under are free.
