Dozens of security cameras are going up around the City of Valdosta and more are on the way.

It is part of an extensive plan by the Valdosta Police Department to crack down on crime. Police say there are at least 50 new high definition security cameras up now.

Eyewitness News found several scattered through out the Hudson Dockett Housing Complex and local residents tell us they love it.

"A lot of that being because all the shootings and all the crime that's been going on out here. I think that will help law enforcement bring those criminals to justice," said local resident Angela Coleman.

Police say the recordings from the cameras will provide evidence in court that will lead to convictions. Some of them are even moveable so criminals never know where they will be.
