Valdosta, GA - Hundreds of South Georgia children spent the day swinging hammers and playing with fire.
It was not for anything bad, it was during the first 'Careers In Construction and Engineering Fair'. Almost 400 high and middle school students came out to Wiregrass Technical College for the event. The Board of Associated General Contractors hosted the fair.
"There's just not enough kids out there that understand there's something besides a four year degree," said Brian Geary, Acting Vice President of Associated General Contractors. That trades are just as important. You make just as much money doing these trades. And it is just something that we want them to be aware of."
Students came from Brooks, Lowndes, Cook, Echoles, Berrien, Fitzgerald, Irwin and Highland Schools.
