Valdosta, GA - Authorities have more questions than answers after a home invasion early this morning in Valdosta. Several guns were stolen and police say aren't necessarily buying the story they were told.

Valdosta Police say the home invasion happened on Beck Street on the west side of town around 1 am Wednesday morning. They say 21 year old, Katelyn Bauer, was home alone when she heard a knock on the door.

Bauer told police it was a man she new. He told her he was stranded and needed a ride. That's when Bauer agreed to take him home and let him in while she went to get her shoes.

When she walked back in, Bauer told police two African American men had guns pointed at the man she had just let in her house. Police say one of the men asked her "where the guns were" and she showed them a safe in the back room. She and the other man were ordered in to a bathroom. Police say they believe Bauer's story, but aren't sure of the other victim's role.

"Based on the circumstances and the time frame of when the male victim showed up and the offenders showed up, We aren't sure he had anything to do with the incident, but because we haven't had a chance to speak with him, we aren't sure if he is a victim, or an offender". says Lt. Aaron Kirk.

According to VPD, the two African American men had their faces covered during the incident. one was described as being light-skinned, approximately 6'4", with a thin build and the other was approximately 6'0" with a muscular build.

Lt. Kirk says luckily, Baeur wasn't harmed, and it seems to be an isolated incident.

Baeur was unavailable today for comment. Kirk says if someone comes to your house asking for help and it seems suspicious, call 911.
