Fairfield, AL -- Valdosta State routed the Miles Golden Bears Tuesday afternoon, 9-0 and 20-4 in two shortened games. The first game only lasted six innings while the second was a mere five.
Alanna Hadley led VSU in the first game with seven strikeouts and just one hit for the entire game. She received ample support from the battery with Courtney Albritton going three for four while Morgan Johnson, Samatha Posey, Marti Littlefield and Natalia Morozova all went two for four.
Albritton, Johnson, Posey and Littlefield all scored two runs each.
Brianna Hancock earned the victory for VSU in game two with six strikeouts and three unearned runs in the first three innings of the game. Courtney Gunby finished the game with an unearned run in the final two innings.
Valdosta State’s bats really started churning in the second game. Albritton was four for five while Johnson, Ashley Steinhilber, Angela O’Connor and Fran Johnson all blasted home runs.
Posey had a perfect four for four outing in the second game while Morgan Johnson was three of four and both Littlefield and Steinhilber were three of five. O’Connor and Fran Johnson were both one of two at the plate, making their appearances count with a home run for each player.
Valdosta State returns home this weekend to host West Alabama at 2 p.m. Saturday and West Florida at 1 p.m. Sunday.
