BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Valdosta State sweeps the Gulf South Conference East Division Players of the Week awards for the second time this season. Holly Satterfield earns her fourth Pitcher of the Week award this year while Marti Littlefield notches her first Player of the Week award of the season.

Satterfield’s fourth award of the year is the most of anyone in the GSC. It is also her seventh of her career after a GSC East Pitcher of the Year award last season. Against conference opponents North Alabama and West Alabama, Satterfield only gave up five hits in 13 innings pitched. She tallied nine strikeouts and five walks with two shutouts.

She struck out seven against West Alabama when VSU needed a great pitching performance to secure a 2-0 victory. Her second win of the weekend gave her a conference high 17 wins. After another win against Albany State Monday, she stands at 18-3 on the season.

Littlefield earned a hit in each of Valdosta State’s four victories for the week. She clubbed her second home run of the season and her 44th of her career in a four for four effort in a 7-3 win over West Alabama. It was her second perfect four for four performance of the week.

She hit .667 on the week on 10 for 15 against the conference opponents on the road. Littlefield notched four RBIs and finished with a .667 on-base percentage and 1.067 slugging percentage.

To keep her week going, she hit two two-run homers Monday night against Albany State.

The duo will look to lead No. 4 Valdosta State against No. 1 Alabama-Huntsville and West Georgia this weekend. Be sure to come out Friday at 1 p.m. for VSU’s Pack the Park against UAH. The first 150 students in will receive free Valdosta State sunglasses.
