As the Florida State baseball team continues their climb up the National polls, head coach Mike Martin continues his own climb into coaching history. With just two more victories, "11" will become just the third Division-1 coach in NCAA history to reach the 1600 win mark. It's a milestone his players are anxious to be a part of.

Senior infielder Stephen Cardullo said, "It's going to be a great day when that happens. He's a humble guy, and he'll probably credit all the Florida State Seminoles from the past for those wins, but he's a great coach and we're ready to play for him."

Outfielder Tyler Holt added, "To see his 1600th, it's unbelievable, you know, it's something I'll be telling my kids one day. It's a legacy. You've got to play hard. There's guys that watch and have got to be a part of it. It's a great honor and hopefully these guys understand later on."

For a man with 13 College World Series appearances and 30 consecutive NCAA Regionals as head coach, the milestones are many over the years, but Martin says his most satisfying achievements come in other areas.

Coach Martin said, "What means the most to me is the improvement of these young men as they go through life, as they come through this program. That's what I look forward to, more than 1600."

Fans looking forward to the milestone will likely see it in person. After a midweek game with Florida, the Noles open a three game set with Virginia Tech beginning Friday.
