In today's health matters, more good news for chocolate lovers. A new study shows a nibble of the dark stuff has even more ways it can help your heart.
New research adds to the mounting evidence chocolate not only lowers the risk of stroke, it seems to be more protective against certain types of stroke.
In the study, women who ate the most chocolate, the equivalent of two bars per week, had a 20 percent lower risk of having a stroke.
Previous research has shown a link between chocolate consumption and stroke. But this is the first study to show chocolate seems to offer even more protection against hemorrhagic stroke, which is what happens when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures.
That kind of stroke is rare but usually deadlier.
Of course, remember chocolate bars are high in fat, sugar and calories. So eat them in moderation.
Look for dark chocolate which is lower in sugar. And higher in those good for you Flavonoids.
