In today's health matters, people who have trouble getting a decent night's sleep may face a higher risk of heart attack.

Norwegian researchers collected data on more than 50,000 men and women who answered questions about their sleep habits.

They discovered people who had trouble falling asleep almost every day had a 45 percent increased risk of heart attack.

People who had trouble staying asleep had a 30 percent higher risk and those who didn't feel refreshed after a night's sleep had a 27 percent higher risk.

The team noted two important limitations to their study. First they did not take into account obstructive sleep apnea and secondly the results may not apply to Americans.

Daylight hours and sleep patterns are different for Americans and Norwegians.

The findings appear in the journal 'Circulation.'
